Read more about the artist, Basima Mohamed.  Her tapestry "Ibis in the Reeds" sold at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in 2015.

Each wall tapestry hand-woven at the Ramses Wissa Wassef Art Centre near Sakkara Road in Harrania, Egypt is a uniquely imagined weaving of folk art by local Egyptian artists. The large wool tapestries and intimate cotton tapestries depict village life, local gardens and natural environments of the Nile River.  All dyes are produced from plants grown in Wissa Wassef gardens and each tapestry is treated with a permanent anti-moth solution. Since the founding of the tapestry studios in 1953, the beautiful wall hangings have been known as Ramses Wissa Wassef Tapestries and exhibited in museums world-wide under titles that include Harrinia Tapestries and Egyptian Landscapes.  All the RWWAC tapestries are shipped with certificates of authenticity as unique works of art by individual artists.
